Design and development

  • Push / Pull Cables (Bowden Cable) of different sizes and materials
  • Mechanical Hand Controls
  • Mechanical foot pedals (accelerator and brake pedals)
  • Electronic accelerator pedals
  • Complete systems and modules for all the above products

Unlike most of our competitors, we have our own manufacturing equipment for our parts which allows us to be very flexible and respond quickly to the customers needs. With the flexibility of our products we are able to react quickly for providing prototypes and modification to bespoke designs.

Skills and Expertises at the Mülheim site

Products:

Electrical and mechanical pedals and Controls:
Unlike most of our competitors, we have our own manufacturing equipment for our parts which allows us to be very flexible and respond quickly to the customers needs. With the flexibility of our products we are able to react quickly for providing prototypes and modification to bespoke designs.

Control cables:
Here too we can respond rapidly to customer specific needs and within a short lead time. Our motion cables range from relatively simple Bowden wire, to extreme brake cables, to the technically demanding Push / Cable, which have a Teflon coating and distinguishable by being particularly low in friction, high temperature resistance and low minimum bend radius.

Distribution:

In the field:
Our sales engineer with 20 years experience is always on hand to provide technical advise and on-site expertises to solve any specific problems with applications or installations.

Head Office:
With our long serving and experienced staff this enables us to provide great service to our customer regarding all matters concerning orders and delivery times.

Engineering:

Product innovation and continual development are based very closely to the needs and demands from our customers. The engineering team consists of 4 experienced designers who are available to collaborate on any projects with customers to fulfil their requirements.

The engineering Manager has 20 years experience with motion controls (10 years in current position). The Engineering manager is an acting member of the engineering team and is involved throughout the concept, design and development processes of every project.

Current Development focus,

  1. Optimising designs of existing products in particular minimising production costs. Subjecting our current products to Value analysis, so creating at least the same functionality and quality cost advantages. “Design to Cost”
  2. Developing our current products for use within new applications. For example, Within a new brake application for railway industry our product would be under constant fire from flying debris. So we developed our product further to eliminate this design constraint.

Production / Logistics

More than 90% of our products are made in-house. The production facility was re-furbished in 2008/9, complete with modern machines to allow production to operate to a “single-piece-flow” principle. Our in-house CNC machine centres guarantee supply of the required three essential parts such as conduit Caps, end-rods and support tubes. All our machines are no more than 10 years old.

With the introduction of Kan-Ban supply system , this allows us to streamline and optimise our stock, improving the security of supply while at the same time reducing our inventory and working capital.

Quality Assurance:

In 2009, MFB Controls introduced the ISO 9001:2008 quality management system and successfully became ISO 9001:2008 accredited in December 2009.
